Dale (Ba LLB) AWSSA practised as an attorney for a decade before turning his art interest into his new profession in `1984, and Janny, who studied art at school, has managed and administered their wide art portfolio over the years, establishing their first art gallery in 1979. Dale & Janny are leaders of the Painting Holiday concept in Southern Africa, and they have conducted well over 100 courses over the past 16 years.

Knysna Fine Art Gallery is owned and run by Trent and Brigitte Read and assisted by Francois du Toit,Annie Muter and Brian Oosthuizen. Trent is the elder son of the late Everard Read who was the doyen of South African art dealers and his family have been in the arts for generations. Trent worked at Christie's auctioneers in London for several years and ran a gallery in San Antonio, Texas but most of his career has been spent as a director of the Everard Read Gallery in Johannesburg.

The Gallery Guest House is situated on the hill above the center of the original old KNYSNA town.
It is in close proximity to the information office, shops, markets, restaurants and the famous Knysna Lagoon. From the verandahs of the house, one is able to relax in the sun, away from the busy little town, and in the evenings, enjoy the sunsets in the west, before choosing a local restaurant for dinner. Many of these restaurants are in 2 minutes walking distance of the house.
